How to apply for an undergraduate course

You don’t need to be a high school graduate to start an undergraduate degree. Find out how to apply to Curtin depending on your study or work background.

This page is for domestic students. View information for international students.

  1. Graduated from secondary school

    Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) or equivalent interstate qualification.

  2. Attained the ATAR score for your chosen course

    Minimum or guaranteed ATAR score or equivalent.

  3. Achieved a scaled score of at least 50 in your ATAR subjects

    English ATAR, Literature ATAR or English as an Additional Language/Dialect ATAR, and the prerequisite ATAR subjects specific to your chosen course.

High school results

If you are applying on the basis of your high school results, you must have achieved the following:

  1. Graduated from secondary school: Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) or equivalent interstate qualification.
  2. Attained the ATAR score for your chosen course: Minimum or guaranteed ATAR score or equivalent. Year 12 WACE results are valid indefinitely and scores from 1992 onwards can be converted using the TISC ATAR calculator.
  3. Achieved a scaled score of at least 50 your subjects: English ATAR, Literature ATAR or English as an Additional Language/Dialect ATAR, and the prerequisite ATAR subjects specific to your chosen course.

Admission to some Curtin courses is competitive and attaining the minimum ATAR may not guarantee admission.

Alternative entry pathways

If you are applying via a pathway, you must have achieved one or more of the following:

TAFE or other VET provider

If you are applying using a TAFE or VET qualification, you must have achieved one of the following qualifications:

  • Advanced Diploma
  • Diploma
  • Certificate IV

Previous studies at university

You must have successfully completed one of the following:
