This postgraduate accounting course is suitable if you have previously completed an undergraduate accounting degree recognised by CPA Australia. 

This course enables you to obtain advanced skills and knowledge to provide advice to management. The main areas of study include corporate governance, financial accounting and management accounting. 

In this course, you may concurrently enrol in the professional level of the CPA Program with CPA Australia. 

Note: This major differs from the Master of Commerce (Professional Accounting), which is tailored towards graduates with minimal or no experience in accounting.

This major sits within the Master of Commerce degree. To apply for this major, you will apply for the Master of Commerce.

How this course will make you industry ready

Successful completion of this course will provide you with an advanced level of knowledge in the three core areas of auditing, financial accounting and managerial accounting. With this advanced skill-set, you will be ready to move into an accounting career holding a postgraduate qualification and will be well on your way to becoming a certified practising accountant.

Note: If you wish to do the CPA Program, you must be enrolled in the CPA Program administered by CPA Australia. You must also register for and sit the CPA Australia exams. You are responsible for all CPA Program fees including CPA Program segment exam fees.

In order to enrol in the CPA Program, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are qualified and able to meet the requirements for associate membership for CPA Australia.

Admission criteria

What you need in order to get into this course. There are different pathway options depending on your level of work and education experience.

A CPA accredited bachelor degree, majoring in accounting. Applicants must also meet Curtin's English language proficiency requirements.

Note: If you have a bachelor degree in a discipline other than accounting, you should consider the Master of Commerce (Professional Accounting) instead.
