Outline

This course is ideal for students with a technical or non-business background wishing to develop an understanding of the functional areas of business. By provision of a broad coverage of core business related topics students will be well prepared to move into leadership and management roles.

What you'll learn

  • apply a thorough discipline specific foundation of contemporary business theories, concepts and principles in a group or organisational environment; independently identify and investigate a research problem
  • create, critically evaluate and reflect upon innovative ideas and strategies within ambiguous and uncertain business environments (including business, government and not-for-profit organisations)
  • select appropriate information using technologies; make valid judgments and synthesise information from a range of sources; access, evaluate and synthesise diverse information for intelligent business application
  • communicate effectively in ways to appropriately interpret technical and non-technical information to a varied audience, for a range of purposes and to a professional standard

Admission criteria

What you need in order to get into this course. There are different pathway options depending on your level of work and education experience.

There are two pathways into the Graduate Diploma in Business (GCB) degree program – one for applicants with an undergraduate degree and one for those without an undergraduate degree.

Applicants with an undergraduate degree must have all of the following:

  • Possess an undergraduate (or equivalent) degree from a recognised university;
  • Have a minimum three (3) years of professional work experience; and
  • Meet the English language proficiency requirements for this course.

For applicants without an undergraduate degree, it is only possible to apply for entry into the Graduate Certificate in Business (GCB) program. All applicants must have all of the following:

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of professional work experience including a number of years in a managerial capacity; and
  • Meet the English language proficiency requirements for this course

You will be required to submit supplementary information with your application.

Note: All applicants will need to submit a copy of their CV/Resume highlighting prior work experience and roles that they have held.
