This course is ideal if you have a technical or non-business background and wish to develop an understanding of the functional areas of business. The Graduate Certificate in Business is nested within this course.
The broad coverage of core business-related topics will prepare you for leadership and management roles.
You can customise your degree by selecting two optional units. Many of these units are tied to a Master of Business Administration (MBA) specialisation, which will help facilitate your transition to this course, should you wish to continue studying.

Admission criteria
There are two pathways into the Graduate Diploma in Business (GCB) degree program – one for applicants with an undergraduate degree and one for those without an undergraduate degree.
Applicants with an undergraduate degree must have all of the following:
- Possess an undergraduate (or equivalent) degree from a recognised university;
- Have a minimum three (3) years of professional work experience; and
- Meet the English language proficiency requirements for this course.
For applicants without an undergraduate degree, it is only possible to apply for entry into the Graduate Certificate in Business (GCB) program. All applicants must have all of the following:
- A minimum of eight (8) years of professional work experience including a number of years in a managerial capacity; and
- Meet the English language proficiency requirements for this course
You will be required to submit supplementary information with your application.
Note: All applicants will need to submit a copy of their CV/Resume highlighting prior work experience and roles that they have held.
Curtin requires all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English. Specific English requirements for this course are outlined in the IELTS table below.

Advanced standing

You may have already studied some of the units (subjects) listed in your Curtin course, or you may have work experience that matches the degree requirements.
If this applies to you, you can apply for credit for recognised learning (CRL), which means your previous study is recognised and matched against a similar unit in your intended Curtin course.
A successful CRL application exempts you from having to complete certain units within your course and means you could finish your degree in a shorter amount of time.
CRL is also known as recognition of prior learning, advanced standing and credit transfer.
