‘By 2030, automation, globalisation and flexibility will change what we do in every job’ – Foundation for Young Australians (FYA), 2017

Just about everybody is talking about the ‘future of work’, how it will impact on work opportunities, job security and experiences. Which jobs will disappear and which jobs will be created?….but what about the future of careers? What will future careers look like?….

Addressing the needs of contemporary and future business professionals and leaders, Curtin Business School is leading the way in career sustainability research and practice. Drawing on the expertise of world class thought leaders in the field, we are pleased to announce the first in the CBS Executive Education Masterclass Series: Future-Proofing your Career. This inaugural program will feature Associate Professor Julia Richardson, an internationally recognized careers researcher and teacher in the field of human resource management.

Julia will be drawing on her recently published book– An Intelligent Career: Taking Ownership of your Work and your Life, to identify the key strategies for ‘future-proofing’ your career. The program will also feature guest speakers from industry, with essential insights into the changing nature of the global labour market.

“It started with a shake-up or a massive reality-check from the banking sector explaining exactly how quickly our business world is changing. This led into AP Julia Richardson’s knowledge on how to build an “Intelligent Career” with a book given in… bonus! It gave me a really good bump on how to align myself with future “job-skills requirement clusters” that were identified during the day and about discovering the “why, how and who” for my future career. It finished with an information-rich presentation from Margot Wood on future trends in HR and global requirements and finished with a panel of entrepreneurs and their own insights on how to successfully work for yourself; the quality of these speakers was fantastic and covered their experiences and viewpoint on how to start/run your own business.”

Warwick Peatling, CBS Exec Ed Masterclass participant

“The Career Sustainability Workshop gave me a fresh perspective on my career objectives, in addition to a useful framework for developing the outcomes that I am seeking in my professional and personal development. The seminar was jam-packed full of useful information, engaging topics of discussion, and a variety of speakers with different perspectives on the future of work and career development. I think this workshop should be mandatory viewing for everyone; whether you are looking for a career change or just trying to understand how your workforce may perceive value in their work, there is always something for people to learn.”
